Excellent technical reference for anyone trying to implement or upgrade a mechanical integrity program. The section on equipment specific integrity management was exactly what I was looking for. It summarizes input from multiple standards and codes to provide a clear basis for how to justify what, how frequently and why you are doing the things in your mechanical integrity program. I wish someone had told me about this reference six months ago, it would have saved me a lot of work.

Douglas C. Montgomery is the man! Wonderful history on some of the top contributors in the world of quality. Excellent application examples. Solid math.

I am getting an undergrad in stats and have found that most of the stats courses offered through the math department at my university are geared either towards mathematicians (heavy on the proofs) or engineers/scientists with very little emphasis given to applying stats to business problems. On the other hand the applied stats courses offered through the business school are not nearly adequate in developing the underlying theory of either probability or statistical inference. This is an excellent book that bridges the space between business applications and mathematical statistics. I would highly recommend it to someone coming from either end of the spectrum (math vs. business).
I have stopped to count the number of quality books I bought until I found this one. For my point of view it is an almost perfect compendium with very interesting applied exercises: A must have! The only missing point is detailed mathematical proof of all the tools presented in the books (mathematical proof are always difficult to found in statistical quality control and this is a shame for a “quality” spirit) at least in the appendix or avalaible as free PDF on a website.
Very detailed explanations for control charts. This book is a good technical resource for all kinds of industrial processes. Statistical analysis reference.

Well written and although some of the concepts are older, they are still applicable in today’s manufacturing environment.

Excellent reference material, relevant on many levels.

Although published just in spring 2000, it is IMHO already a classic. A last word: Business Dynamics is not cheap, but it is worth every cent or penny you spend for it. There may be other good or even excellent SD-textbooks, but “Business Dynamics” is simply outstanding and a category in its own.
What is amazing about this book is that it blends absolute precision, correctness and detail with practical modeling advice and insight and it is written in a relaxed style with numerous examples. It is one of the best examples of clear writing about a complex topic. Dr. Sterman’s years of system work has allowed him a level of clarity that is unsurpassed in the business and systems area.

As mentioned earlier, the book can be overwhelming and I would recommend a newcomer to this area to pick up several books first, to provide a more gentle introduction. This is not a contradiction of what I wrote earlier, it is simply that the book packs so much information in its pages, and it is still very long.

Highly recommended.
