Description:

Calculus by Ron Larson, Bruce H. Edwards pdf free download.

The Larson CALCULUS program has a long history of innovation in the calculus market. It has been widely praised by a generation of students and professors for its solid and effective pedagogy that addresses the needs of a broad range of teaching and learning styles and environments. Each title is just one component in a comprehensive calculus course program that carefully integrates and coordinates print, media, and technology products for successful teaching and learning.

So here was my predicament before I bought this book: I am having to self teach Calc 2 the instructor sucks & our book is even worse constantly skipping 5-6 step in the process so it take you hrs just to figure out the examples given in the book (let alone homework time). I work full time in a mentally intensive job so generally speaking my brain is done by the time I get home so trying to figure out missing steps was at the very least aggravating & an the most made me wanna take a gun to my assigned book (Essential Calc By Stewart’s). After receiving a 95% (take home), 60% & 68% on my tests i knew I needed help when we started sequence & series section & I spent 2 Hrs trying to figure these things out to no avail.

So I went on Amazon & did some searching. This book by Larson had the best reviews (& I had a fellow student who used a previous addition & said it was an excellent book) & I was desperate to get a B or better in this class (A requirement for work to pay my tuition). So what’s an extra $124 for a new book if it gets me $2500 in tuition in the end. So I bit the bullet & bought this one. I got a 79% on the next test through self teaching. Nough said, this book is great & the resources the book provides are excellent as well (& you do not pay extra for them, they are free for anyone to use).

Description:

Calculus: Early Transcendentals by William L. Briggs, Lyle Cochran pdf free download.

Drawing on their decades of teaching experience, William Briggs and Lyle Cochran have created a calculus text that carries the teacher’s voice beyond the classroom. That voice–evident in the narrative, the figures, and the questions interspersed in the narrative–is a master teacher leading readers to deeper levels of understanding. The authors appeal to readers’ geometric intuition to introduce fundamental concepts and lay the foundation for the more rigorous development that follows. Comprehensive exercise sets have received praise for their creativity, quality, and scope.

William Briggs has been on the mathematics faculty at the University of Colorado at Denver for twenty-three years. He received his BA in mathematics from the University of Colorado and his MS and PhD in applied mathematics from Harvard University. Instructor's Solution Manuals to Calculus Early Transcendentals by Michael Sullivan, Kathleen Miranda pdf free download

Description:

Instructor’s Solution Manuals to Calculus Early Transcendentals by Michael Sullivan, Kathleen Miranda pdf free download.

Michael Sullivan and Kathleen Miranda have written a contemporary calculus textbook that instructors will respect and students can use. Consistent in its use of language and notation, Sullivan/Miranda’s Calculus offers clear and precise mathematics at an appropriate level of rigor. The authors help students learn calculus conceptually, while also emphasizing computational and problem-solving skills. The book contains a wide array of problems including engaging challenge problems and applied exercises that model the physical sciences, life sciences, economics, and other disciplines. Algebra-weak students will benefit from marginal annotations that help strengthen algebraic understanding, the many references to review material, and extensive practice exercises. Strong media offerings include interactive figures and online homework. Sullivan/Miranda’s Calculus has been built with today’s instructors and students in mind.

I am a collector of math books. I mostly do this because I like to see how different text compare when teaching difficult topics in Calculus. In my opinion as someone who has ventured through the dreaded Calculus Sequence and survived I have to say that this text is by far the best. When I was taking MAT 230 (that’s Calculus II) I had the hardest time with the “Surface Volumes of Solids at Revolutions;” however, with this text, those problems are but a thing of the past. I really do wish that this book was adopted as the default text in my university but it wasn’t. There is something about the verbiage that Sullivan employs that truly makes Calculus an enjoyable subject. The explanations are thorough and his examples are step by step which says everything about this author as compared with his competition.
